Sustainable design
and the circular economy.
The linear economy mode of consumption, take-make-use-dispose is now outdated and other more sustainable models are emerging such as the circular economy.
Designers are critical for the success of the new model. This session will explore the concepts of sustainable design theory and showcase some of New Zealand's most exiting examples of waste-free do no harm design.

Currently studying a Masters in Bioscience Enterprise at the University of Auckland. Under the guidance of Dr Barker and Dr Crush, coupled with his work experience with Apple, Jason is researching and developing business models for Mint.
Dr Christian De Groot
Unitec, Senior Academic Leader Business and Innovation at Unitec.
Dr De Groot is a Scientist with Experience in Drug Discovery, Cell Biology, Imaging, Biochemistry and Immunology.
Anna Yallop
General Manager, Bioresource Processing Alliance
Anna has spent many years working in technology transfer management, R&D expert sourcing and business development for private enterprises, the University of Auckland and the Foundation for Research Science and Technology (now Callaghan Innovation). She established a start-up manufacturing business in 2006, which she subsequently sold in 2011.
